Hi Earth Angels 🙂
With the new year coming up fast, we couldn’t wait any longer to talk about our goal for 2024. The very first step on this exciting journey is to acquire land for our sanctuary. We’ve set this as a priority for the upcoming year, acknowledging the hard work and commitment it will demand, but we are confident that together, we can make it happen.
If you or someone you know can help connect us with potential sponsorships, partnerships, or fundraising opportunities, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 770-316-6553.
Here are some of the strategies we will employ to raise funds:
Online Fundraising Campaigns
Sharing our story on crowdfunding sites like GoFundMe and Kickstarter to attract donors from around the world.
Corporate Sponsorships
Approach local businesses and larger corporations that align with our mission and offer packages in exchange for financial support
Grant Applications
Apply for grants from foundations, government agencies, and organizations that support animal welfare and nonprofit initiatives.
Partnerships
Collaborate with other nonprofits, animal welfare organizations, or businesses that share our mission to raise awareness and funds.
Monthly Giving Program
Encouraging $2 Tuesdays and $5 Fridays highlighting the impact of recurring donations as a stable source of income.
Social Media Presence
Consistent use of social media to share compelling stories, videos, and updates on our progress
Here are some of the key considerations we are keeping in mind as we search for the perfect property:
Size
A shared challenge among the sanctuaries I’ve worked with is not having enough space for the rescues they accumulate, leading them to look for larger properties and moving 50-100 animals. This in itself is a very expensive and labor intensive project. So step 1 is to avoid having that problem by going big (30+ acres). Ideally, we go as big as possible to leave room for expansion as we grow into a larger operation.
Elevation
Another lesson learned from volunteering is to find a property that is well-elevated. Not only is elevation good for the larger animals’ wellbeing, but it reduces the risk of flooding. Flooding is a recurring challenge and a danger to the animals so we need to avoid any property at risk of this.
Zoning & Accessibility
While looking for property, we will ensure strict adherence to zoning laws and regulations. In doing so, it is crucial that we locate our sanctuary near a well-traveled highway or town with an accessible route for visitors. Step 5 is to fully open to the public offering limited tours, farm animal yoga, rescue cuddling, animal therapy, and access to our produce gardens. These activities play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial security and long-term sustainability of our sanctuary operations. While this approach may entail a higher initial investment in property, it promises significant cost savings in the long term.
We are wholeheartedly committed to the effort and dedication required to secure land for our sanctuary. However, we recognize that we cannot achieve this goal without the support of our community.
It is going to be a fun and challenging year and we are so excited to share every step of it with you!!
